In the Book of Genesis, we were told that the descendant of Noah built a great city in Shinar. What is it wrong with our leaders allowing a deadly virus “covid-19,” to harass and kills us at their watch? They had a chance to stop the spread of it worldwide but wanted to go in combat with an intangible warrior.

Africa, more especially South Africa is severely devastated by the pandemic. It brought nothing but lament moreover hunger and job losses. The poor get poorer . Townships are overcrowded due to people leaving rural areas in the hope to seek job opportunities. Then happens with rural areas? They are empty and vulnerable for attacks.

“Covid-19 had doubled loss as to it taken away breadwinners, shattered the economy and stole our freedom of speech along with movement,” says Mohlala Selaelo based in Tembisa from Ga Sekhukhune. Teffo who is also a job hunter said the government should have killed the first people detected with the virus to save millions.

It’s been three years of a masked nation. I think we should learn to live with the virus like other pandemics, focus on rebuilding the economy and make precautions a norm. Government has tried its best to teach and highlight us about this deadly virus. Nothing more to be done but to move on, let it be the survival of the fittest.
